Criteria for Enrollment:

In order to take courses as a home-school student with Broward Virtual School you must:

1. View “Broward Virtual Student Orientation Video” at http://www.bved.net/about_us.htm
 
2. Register with the Broward County Home School Department. Call 754-321-2586 for information or visit
http://www.broward.k12.fl.us/studentsupport/guidance/html/home_ed.htm  
    
4. Reside in Broward County

5. Have daily access to a computer with dependable high speed Internet access and a printer

Broward Virtual School offers classes to home school students, but is not responsible for promoting them to the next grade level. 
Home School Students are still required to turn in their yearly evaluation by a certified teacher to the Home School Department. 
Home School students are not awarded a high school diploma upon completion of course work.

Registration Directions:

1. Student and Parent/Guardian go to http://vsa.flvs.net and click on NEW STUDENT (located in the center of page).

2. Follow the prompts to register. 

3. Important: Under PHYSICAL SCHOOL, pick "Home Schooled Broward", and under Student ID, put the students number (this can be found on a previous report card).  If you do not have a Student District ID number, you enter 9999999999.

4. When finished with the Personal and Demographic Information, click "REQUEST NEW COURSES" (on left)

5. Read "Important Course Request Information" then click I HAVE READ AND UNDERSTAND.

6. Click SELECT FIRST COURSE, and choose a course under ‘Select Subject’ (using the pull- down menu)

7. To choose a course click SELECT (to the left of the course name).  If you’ve successfully chosen a course, it will appear.

8.To add another course, click SELECT ANOTHER COURSE. When you are finished selecting all of your courses, click FINISHED SELECTING COURSES.

9. Follow the prompts for the Registration Course Survey.

10. Click CONTINUE COURSE REQUEST (at the top right of the page) read and then click FINISH. You do not need to print out the Course Request Form.

11. Parent applies for Guardian Account and electronically approves classes.

• Click LOGOUT (on left)
• If you already have a Guardian Account, enter your User Name and Password. 
• If you DO NOT have a guardian account click on APPLY FOR GUARDIAN ACCOUNT (Left side) and apply.
• Once in the guardian account, verify all information, and then electronically approves requested course(s).  (Under DASHBOARD)

12. After registration is successfully completed:

• Your teacher will contact you a couple of days before the first day of class. Check your account daily by logging into: http://bved.flvs.net.
• Please call 754-321-1100 if you have any questions regarding the registration process.

Online Registrations cannot be considered for processing unless:

• Completion of online Guardian/Guidance approval process has taken place.
• Notice of intent has been submitted to Home School Department

The district provides opportunities for home schooled students to participate in FCAT testing at the student's local school to assess the students skill level in reading and math.
Please contact the home school department at 754-321-2586 to request free testing for your student.
