Please review the different types of students Broward Virtual serves below and
follow the registration procedures that pertain to you.
All prospective students must view the Broward Virtual Student Orientation Video before registration.*
Full-time BVS Students
Broward Virtual School offers a full-time program for students in grades 6-12. Full-time BVS students are registered as public school students, take part in FCAT and District testing, and have the opportunity to earn a standard Broward County diploma.
In order to be accepted as a full-time student with Broward Virtual School you must:
1) Have been promoted to the next grade level at the end of the 2007-2008 school year.
2) Attain one of the following minimum scores on standardized tests:
- 2007-08 FCAT Sunshine State Reading Level 2 or higher
- 2007-08 Stanford Achievement Test Reading Score at 50th percentile or above
- 2007-08 Iowa Test of Basic Skills Reading Score at 50th percentile or above
4) Accepted students must meet all of Broward County pupil progression criteria as specified in School Board Policy 6000.1 in order to participate in our full-time program. Such criteria includes meeting minimum FCAT scores, course requirements, immunization, Code of Conduct acknowledgement, etc.
Students who meet these requirements must submit the online prospective full-time student form.

Home School Students
In addition to our full-time program, Broward Virtual School offers middle and high school courses to home school students. Home school students have two options at Broward Virtual School. Students may:
1. Retain home school status and utilize free online courses for their curriculum or
2. Apply for enrollment in our full-time, diploma granting program (subject to entrance criteria above)
It is important to know that Broward Virtual offers high school diplomas to students registered in our full-time program only.
Broward Virtual School is not responsible for promoting home school students to the next grade level. Home School students are required to turn in their yearly evaluation by a certified teacher to the Home School Department. In order to be accepted as a home school student with Broward Virtual School you must register with the
Broward County Home Education Department .

Private School Part-Time BVS Students
Private school part-time students are enrolled in a private Broward County middle or high school full-time and take supplemental courses online with Broward Virtual. In order to be accepted as a part-time, private school student with Broward Virtual School you must reside in Broward County and attend a Broward County private school.
Parent and student must inform the school guidance counselor of completed registration. The school guidance counselor will verify the information online, ensure that the course requested is appropriate for the student, and electronically approve requested courses.
All students must have daily access to a computer with dependable high speed Internet access and a printer.
Registration for private school part-time students will begin in August 2007.

Public School Part-Time BVS Students
Public school part-time students are enrolled in a traditional Broward County middle or high school full-time and may take supplemental courses online with Broward Virtual. Part-time students take courses online for graduation acceleration, credit recovery, grade forgiveness, or to earn high school credit while in middle school. In order to be accepted as a part-time, public school student with Broward Virtual School you must currently attend a Broward County public school.
Parent and student must inform the school guidance counselor of completed registration. School guidance counselor will verify information online, ensure that the course requested is appropriate for the student, and electronically approve requested courses.
Registration for public school part-time students will begin in August 2008.
